I like this feature (critiquing settlements). What I would like to see added beyond the grades in each category would be a “best practice” recommendation, so we can incorporate those into our own settlements and raise the bar.

Thanks for the feedback. We were toying with that in an initial draft but didn't want to overwhelm people. We'll look for ways to fit this in.

The notice is even worse than that. It is blasted from a new domain name instead of from apple.com, and the settlement administrator did not whitelist the domain name with major email providers. I found it in my Google spam filter. Apple has notified users of at least one previous settlement through direct notice to the iPhones themselves.

Also, did you see their internal math? After they make up the $1.5b number, they claim that $95m is 10-15% of the amount at issue. You'd think for $30m, they could afford a calculator.

That scorecard line about Eligibility hit close to home. I was just feeling frustrated by a settlement notice I received (see https://displatesettlement.com/faq) because in order to submit a claim, I’d have to certify that the product I bought from them was advertised as discounted when I bought it. How am I supposed to know that? And yet if I don’t submit a claim, I’ll automatically receive a coupon. So…does that mean they already know whether I’m eligible or not? (IANAL, fwiw.)
